My Oscar Predictions & Picks

With less than 36 hours to go for cinema's most prestigious (and sometimes flawed) awards night, here are my Oscar picks & predictions.....

Best Film

My Pick: The Social Network (Intelligent yet delightfully entertaining.)

My Prediction: The King's Speech

Best Actor

My Pick: Colin Firth, The King's Speech (For making his stammer believable without over-doing it.)

My Prediction: Colin Firth, The King's Speech

Best Actress

My Pick: Natalie Portman, Black Swan

My Prediction Natalie Portman, Black Swan

Best Actor in a supporting role

My Pick: Geoffrey Rush, The King’s Speech (The life of the movie.)

My Prediction: Geoffrey Rush, The King’s Speech

Best Actress in a supporting role

My Pick: Hailee Steinfeld, True Grit

My Prediction: Melissa Leo, The Fighter

Best Director

My Pick: David Fincher, The Social Network

My Prediction: Tom Hooper, The King’s Speech

It’s not always safe to guess such awards, especially the Oscars as the academy is to known to spring surprises viz the Hurt Locker won over Avataar, Citizen Kane, acclaimed by most as the greatest film ever made lost out to some other movie. So it’s definitely not safe, but it’s definitely fun! Just a small prayer for our very own A R Rahman, hope he can repeat his feat! Jai Ho, all over again!
